Jessica Alexander johns

Vet Nurse turn Interior Designer, Jessica’s design concepts are based around her love of the natural world. The scents used in the Georgie Porge candle range reflect the vast aromas of the landscape.

When it comes to design Jess is a lover of colour. Her and brother George share the love of the colour green for its earthy and calming abilities. When looking at each project Jess likes to “create something unique, add that touch of personality to each project that makes your project unique and completely yours”.

Jess loves working on wheel thrown ceramic pieces and experimenting with the endless glazing and textural finishes that can be applied to clay.

When not designing or candle making you will find Jess in the garden, drinking cocktails and enjoying farm life with her animals.

This man is the name and drive behind Georgie Porge. George was an energetic, passionate and inspiring architect who sadly passed away August 2022.

He was known to bring a fresh outlook, enthusiasm and special skill set to the architectural community. Quoted to be “before his time” George’s drive and vision for a sustainable planet and community was highlighted in his works. His sustainability principles were evident before it became a trend.

With endless commercial spaces and multiple residential designs under his belt along with those under construction, George leaves a lasting legacy in the Singleton NSW community and beyond.

George was family orientated and in his spare time loved researching and practicing horticulture and native propagation as well as landscape design.

Zak johns

Meet Jessica’s husband Zak and Georgie Porge’s behind-the-scenes problem solver.

Whilst flat out building his own electrical business ZEDD Electrical, Zak finds time to help out Jess.

From wiring lights to repairing tools and keeping the kilns running at their best, he plays an important role in the day-to-day running of Georgie Porge.

When he is finally off the tools, you’ll most likely find Zak out on the golf course enjoying a well-earned break.

Micheal & Sonia

Alexander

Jessica’s parents have also been roped into the business and even though you may not hear them say it out loud they wouldn’t spend their time any other way.

In 2025 Sonia came on board in the studio helping make orders and has now become our kiln firing queen. All the fired and completed pieces in our collection are thanks to Sonia. She has now also created some amazing glazing combinations that you will see from time to time on statement works.

Micheal has generously given up half of one of his farm sheds to accommodate the Hunter NSW studio. Micheal is very much the brains behind all production and helps in all aspects of running Georgie Porge.

Maddi Weedon

Maddi discovered her passion for pottery during lockdown, teaching herself to throw on the wheel after growing up surrounded by handmade ceramics created by her great-grandmother and mum. Maddi manages marketing and social media for Georgie Porge and is the sounding board for Jess’s endless stream of design ideas.

Maddi originally started at Georgie Porge collaborating on ceramic projects under her own brand Maddison David Ceramics but with a life changing opportunity to relocate to the beautiful mountain views of New Zealand, Maddi’s involvement in Georgie Porge has naturally evolved.

When not working her actual job as an optician, you will find Maddi competing in triathlons, reading or travelling to exotic places with Jess.

April

The loyal companion of Zak and Jess, April is the studio mascot.

Whenever Jess is in the studio you will find April asleep close by.

April’s energy brings a calm compassion to the studio and she enjoys her payment in pats and cuddles.
